FAQ
We use WMV9 to encode the broadcast media. Please install Windows Media Player as WMV support comes as part of the package.
There are 3 possible solutions for your problem:
1. Apply port forwarding for ports 9000-9999 in your router. (Check out http://www.portforward.com for instructions on how to manually configure the port forwarding in your router)
2. Turn on the UPnP feature in your router. (Not supported by all the routers)
3. Set the DMZ host to your PC's IP address.
SayaTV currently doesn't support proxy servers.
It varies depending on your Internet connection. Factors such as bandwith, video quality and ISP quality all combine to determine how long it takes to buffer the minimum amount of data. Typically, it takes 30~60 seconds for a 1.5Mbps line to buffer a 400Kbps clip.
Yes. If you have Microsoft Windows XP SP2 installed, add "SayaTVBroadcaster.exe" to the exception list to allow it access the Internet. For other personal firewall software, please use their respective menus to add the "SayaTVBroadcaster.exe" to the trusted application list.
We use P2P Mesh Network Technology to drive the media playback and broadcasting. In simpler terms, stream data is shared between users that view the same content. Therefore, the more viewers there are watching a particular channel, the smoother the streaming will be. (Note that you may need to open some ports to permit inbound connections)

For the Viewer, it use a random port from the 9000-9999 range.

For the Broadcaster, it use port 7500 by default but this can be changed by the user

Channel Quality (QC) - This indicates the density of the client network with data from this channel. A high QC value would indicate that there is abundant data available from other clients and should allow for smooth playback.
Perhaps the channel has just lost it's feed. Look for "Viewer(s) Online". This will tell you the number of seeder(s) for this channel. If none are available, please wait for at least 1 seeder to appear before attempting to watch the channel.
Of course, you can! This is one of main features of the SayaTV Broadcaster. You can even create more than 1 channel and slowly add your broadcasts to them. It's like having your own TV station with just a single computer to manage the broadcasting for you.
Here's a simple setup guide to path your way on creating your own channel(s) :

To ensure stability of your connection, there are 3 requirements to meet.
1. Ensure the content provided is WMV9 format for the best compression ratio
2. Adequate bandwidth and a stable connection. For example, if you have an Internet connection speed capped at 512Kbps, we suggest limiting the bitrate of the source media to 300Kbps in order to maintain smooth playback. Keep in mind that because of our P2P Mesh Network technology, the more users you have watching your channel, the smoother their viewing experience will be.
3. If you are not broadcast from public IP you need to
a. Apply port forwarding for port 7500 (refer to Q6) in your router (check out http://www.portforward.com for manually configure the port forwarding in your router)
b. Turn on UPnP feature in your router (not supported by all the routers)
c. Set the DMZ host to your broadcaster PC"s IP address
The channel name is tied to the name registered in the SayaTV.com portal. If you needed to change this, you can modify it from the portal server under My Account website after you log in.
